The above addition is very much similar to the two-digit addition. You will find, in the end of this page that only the number of digits is more and the rest is all the same.
As we know the concept of place value in math very well now, adding numbers should not be a problem.
Let's start off the problem straight away using “without regrouping” method.
Shall we add 144 and 122?
Well, as usual, write the two three-digit numbers as given below (one on top and the other below) before adding.
Now, let's consider the 'ones' place.
Adding 4 and 2, we get 6. Write 6 in the 'ones' column.
Similarly, let's do the addition of numbers in 'tens' column.
4+2=6. Now, write 6 in the 'tens' column.
Now, do the same for the digits in 'hundreds' column.
1+1=2. Write 2 in the 'hundreds' column.
So we get the answer as 266 in the above math problem .
Addition of three-digit numbers without regrouping is made easy here.
