We will see how to subtract two numbers using Yardstick method. It is easy to learn arithmetic problems using this elementary method
You just need to move backward over numbers from the bigger number to the smaller one to solve the math problem.
Let's first subtract 6 from 11. To do that, first place your pointer on the bigger number 11.
Now, the second number is 6. So move 6 numbers backwards from 11, in the yardstick, as given below.
The pointer rests on number 5. So the answer for 11 – 6 is 5. We can solve other problems too, using this method.
Let us work on another math arithmetic problem of subtraction to understand this elementary method.
How do we subtract 6 from 10?
As did before, place the pointer on the bigger number 10 in the yardstick.
The second number is 6. So move 6 numbers backwards from 10 as given below.
In this example, the pointer rests on number 4. So the answer for 10 – 6 is 4.
It is fun to learn subtraction problems through this method. Isn’t it?
